about

In December of 2016 I bought all-new recording equipment and needed to learn how it umm...worked. This was one of the 10 songs I recorded that month as a test run before digging into some Knotty sessions. I'll ultimately release all of these experiments as a proper record but for now, here's "Recast" - an understated anthem to reluctant backsliders everywhere...

lyrics

"Recast"

Am I mistaken?
Weren’t we done?
Is there really demand for this thing to rerun?
Sure there’s appeal in
Filling these roles
Reciting these lines as the story unfolds

But when is the ending?
When do we stop?
How do we tie up the threads of this plot?
‘Cause there’s no use pretending
There’s no sense in lying
We rise and we climax and fall every time…every time

It’s all over past has passed
Can I be recast?

But who knows the subtext?
The cadence, the quirks?
The moment to kiss just to hide the hurt?
I guess we could coach it
Give line readings and such
Here’s how we scream, how we laugh, how we touch…oh how we touch

It’s all over past has passed
Can I be recast?

Am I mistaken?
Weren’t we done?
